Turning a dead 2015 27-inch iMac into a 5K monitor
I bought a Late 2015 iMac 27 with a dead logic board for 120 euros on Wallapop and turned it into a 5K monitor with an R1811 driver board, saving at least 1,000 euros over a new 5K display. Written as I went, failures included: the recessed T8 screw, the backlight cable orientation, the USB-C power flicker, and the pink edges on 2015 panels.
